Several Red Cross flooding shelters closed Thursday.
The shelters were opened Wednesday in Jefferson, Kilgore and Longview in response to storms that brought widespread flooding to the area. Red Cross teams will continue to assist East Texans.
"As we move from our role of providing shelter to displaced person, volunteers will begin doing damage assessment in affected areas," Executive Director Tammy Prater said in a statement.
Anyone who has damage to their home due to the storms is urged to contact the Red Cross at 866-505-4801.
