EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

Storms caused widespread outages Wednesday in East Texas.

About 12:30 p.m., Southwestern Electric Power Company reported that 1,296 customers in Gregg County, 215 customers in Harrison County, 217 customers in Panola County and 115 customers in Rusk County without power. See a map of outages here.

As of 12:30 p.m. ONCOR reported 226 customers in Cherokee County, 137 customers in Henderson County, 334 customers in Nacogdoches County and 2,229 customers in Smith County without power. See a map of ONCOR outages here.

Rusk County Electric Cooperative, Inc. reported about 600 people without power in the county. To report an outage in that area, call 903-657-4571.

As of 11:45 a.m., Upshur Rural Electric Cooperative had about 3,500 customers without service. The company said in a statement that crews are finding a lot of damage caused by lightning. Repairs have been slow in some areas due to the flood waters. See a map of UREC outages here.

Several trees are down across the area. A downed tree on Tanglewood Drive reportedly knocked down a power line. Do not attempt to approach downed power lines, contact your local law enforcement.
