Texas Rangers To Investigate Constable Equipment Controversy

An update now on the controversy involving two Smith County constables and a former constable.

Earlier this month, we told you about $10,000 worth of equipment and money taken from Winona Constable Dale Geddie.

The district attorney now says the Texas Rangers will determine if this is a criminal or civil case.

The equipment includes guns, badges, bullet-proof vests, and a patrol car. The items belong to Winona's Reserve Constable Association.

The former constable there, Charles Wilson, gave the property to Tyler Constable Henry Jackson. Jackson still has the items, and Winona's Reserve Constable Association wants them back.

If the Texas Rangers find this a criminal issue, the DA will pursue the case. If not, then it becomes a civil matter.
