Monday's Weather: Scattered showers with highs in the lower 60s

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

A cold front will continue to slowly push through East Texas today, keeping showers in the forecast for the start of the week.

That front, moving in from the north, will build all the way through East Texas by Monday afternoon. Along this front, showers will continue to build into the area, leaving around 0.5" of rain by the end of the day.

Another disturbance will build in from the west, bringing a cold front and even more showers into East Texas Tuesday through Wednesday morning. This next round could bring an addition 1-1.5" of rain into East Texas.

While severe weather is not expected today, we cannot rule out the possibility for strong to severe storms with this next round Tuesday through Wednesday. The Storm Prediction Center has placed a "marginal risk" (level 1 of 5) for severe weather over East Texas from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. Deep East Texas has even been placed under a "slight risk" (level 2 of 5) through the same time period. The main threat looks to be damaging winds and heavy rain, but we will keep you updated as this system gets closer.

Rain will clear Wednesday morning, and we'll be left with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies through the end of the week. Highs will be in the lower 60s.
