Police Warn Of Phone Scam In Tyler

A man posing as a Tyler Police detective is targeting his victims by phone.

Police said it's all a scam to get credit card information.

Here's how it works.

The caller claims he is a detective investigating a charge of $1,100 on your credit card. He then gives a 1-800 number to call to straighten the matter out.

Once you call the number, its the same person who answers, pretending to be someone else. The poser then says he will need your credit card number to fix the charges. Tyler police advise you to use caution in giving out personal information over the phone.
