Ivan McFarlin scored a career-high 31 points and Oklahoma State advanced to the Chicago regional semifinals by outlasting Southern Illinois 82-77.
McFarlin led a 10-2 run with leading scorer Joey Graham on the bench with four fouls. McFarlin also hit a pair of free throws that gave OSU its largest lead of the game at 67-58. The Salukis got within 72-68 before Jameson Curry responded with a three-pointer.
The Cowboys hit all eight of their free throws down the stretch. Curry finished with 18 points and John Lucas the third added 17. The Salukis led by seven at the break before the Cowboys opened the second half with 12 straight points to take a 51-46 lead.
Jamaal Tatum had 22 points to lead Southern Illinois.
