Cleanup Day Set To Go Despite Controversy

In Smith County, residents will soon get to drop off their trash at a location nearby.

Monday, plans were still up in the air, after Noonday Constable Frank Creath lost the litter abatement program to another constable, based on a vote at Commissioners Court. Creath has organized the trash drop-off event in the past.

But today, Creath told us he will organize the event this year. The annual Cleanup Day will be held on Saturday, April 2 from 7 a.m. to 12 noon.

You can drop off household trash, bulky items, and non-hazardous materials at four Smith County locations: the Constable's offices in Lindale, Troup, and Noonday, as well as a dump site on Lavender Road, a quarter mile north of Loop 323.

The locations will accept anything but tires, paint, liquid waste, batteries, and brush.
