Cystic Fibrosis Center Opens

The new Cystic Fibrosis Center at The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler opened today. The new facility includes five completely renovated exam rooms with state-of-the-art equipment for in-clinic procedures.

The clinic has a CF coordinator, nutritionist and social worker, plus access to physical and respiratory therapists as needed.

"The new UTHCT Cystic Fibrosis Center will help us continue to provide excellent and specialized care for children and adults with cystic fibrosis. We also now can offer support such as counseling, nutrition, and social services for patients and their families," said Bettina C. Hilman, MD, the center's director.

The R.W. Fair Foundation donated funds for a new conference room, which will enable the center's medical staff to participate in educational presentations and video conferences to keep them abreast of current research and treatment methods.

The new center, an affiliate of the Cystic Fibrosis Center of Children's Medical Center in Dallas, has been open since early February.
