2005 Season Canceled At Lonestar Speedway

Racing fans in East Texas are losing one of their biggest sources of entertainment. Lonestar Speedway owner Brian Cullins has announced he is canceling the 2005 season. The Lonestar Speedway website is shut down, with only a message from Cullins.

"It is with deep regret and disappointment that I must announce that the 2005 racing season has been canceled," said Cullins. "Lack of support from sponsors and budget cuts from returning sponsors have made it impossible for me to continue. I have lost a tremendous amount of money in a short period of time trying to make this work, but now must move on. I hope Lonestar will be opened again soon, under new ownership, so we can all enjoy again the great racing that we all know takes place there. Thank you to everyone who supported me. Please support the other tracks around so we can all enjoy racing in East Texas."

No word yet on potential buyers or when the track will reopen.

I think its safe to say Jameis Winston likes to hang out with East Texas talent. The Tampa Bay quarterback was in Lufkin Wednesday night with former teammate Jorvorskie Lane to help the former Lufkin star talk with kids and support his "Lane of Hope" foundation. But, earlier Wednesday, a picture surfaced on social media of Winston working out with Adrian Peterson in Houston at a training facility.
