At a time of year when many schools are holding their basketball banquets, Robert E. Lee high school held their football banquet. That's what playing into December will do for you. Oh, and waiting for your state championship rings to arrive. Harvey Convention Center was filled with Red Raider players, family and fans, all there to celebrate the schools first ever football state championship. The players were given their state championship rings and honored by their coaches. It was a bitter sweet time for the seniors, who were celebrating the greatest season in school history, while gathering as a team for the last time.
"It kind of forms a lump in your throat about the whole situation," said senior offensive lineman Ciron Black, "because you've been with these boys for four years and all of them are your brothers, no matter race, or size. It's just a band of brothers and it hurts that it's coming to an end, but i'm just so happy it came out like this."
