The national office of the Kappa Sigma fraternity confirmed it has closed the chapter at University of Texas at Tyler.

This move comes after UT Tyler and the national office's investigations into allegations of inappropriate behavior and a "disturbing social media post" made against the Rho Nu chapter.

Mitchell Nick Wilson, national executive director for Kappa Sigma, said the fraternity is withdrawing its charter because the chapter violated the fraternity's code of conduct.

Wilson said Kappa Sigma had the option of suspending the chapter, but chose to completely withdraw their presence from UT Tyler. The details of the chapter closing is still being discussed with university officials, Wilson said.

The national office's investigation and discipline was independent of the actions taken by the university.
