Insurgents Launch Attacks Near Interior Ministry In Baghdad

Police say several people have been killed and injured in a car-bombing near Iraq's Interior Ministry in Baghdad.

Two car bombs exploded outside the ministry but police say casualties were reduced because Iraqi security forces opened fire on the vehicles and disabled them before they could arrive at a main checkpoint.

Police say the bombers raced toward the checkpoint at high speed.
