Smith County K-9 and partner make arrest

From the Smith County Sheriff's Office

SMITH COUNTY, TX - On Friday, October 09, 2015 at approximately 10:00 AM, a Smith County K-9 Deputy observed a suspicious male walking in the 2500 block of County road 328 West.  The Deputy made contact with the male and observed signs of intoxication.

The Deputy attempted a search of the male and felt what he believed to be a weapon in the subject's pants pocket.  At this time the Deputy attempted to detain the male, however, the male physically resisted.  Both he and the Deputy went to the ground.

The Deputy was able to remote deploy his K-9 partner "ENDY".  K-9 Endy was successful in separating the male suspect from the Deputy.   The male was identified as Carlos Cuarenta, white male, 25 years of age.  Cuarenta was transported to ETMC, where he was treated for puncture wounds to his left upper arm.  Cuarenta was then released to the Smith County Jail for detention without further incident.

Cuarenta was arrested for Resisting Arrest, Assault on a Public Servant and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Cuarenta had been arrested on 8/08/2015 for Resisting Arrest, PCS and Assault on a Peace Office.
