Scam Alert: BBB Says Phony Grant Foundation Scammed Tens Of Thousands Of Dollars

We have a scam to warn you about -- this one mainly directed at business owners.  Dozens of complaints have come in about a phony "grant foundation" called PTCS.  It operated in Tyler for a time, but the Better Business Bureau says it was just a way for the operator to swindle people out of tens of thousands of dollars.

The BBB's Kay Robinson, says the operator, named Delores "DeDe" Hall would promise private grants, to start-up companies or expanding businesses, if they provided an up-front payment. Of course, after Hall was paid, the promised grant monies never came.

Kay Robinson, Tyler President of the Better Business Bureau: "There's little recourse. Suing her is one thing to do, but whether she even has the money anymore is doubtful. She has fled Tyler." 2

Jason Jefferson says he was a victim of the scam, losing $25,000: "I've literally had to change the entire dynamic of my business.  It affected negatively everything in my life personally and professionally."

The BBB says DeDe Hall is believed to be in Oklahoma, but criminal investigations are still ongoing locally.
