They've made outstanding achievements this year, and tonight, there were honored. People with cognitive disabilities from five East Texas counties were recognized by the Andrews Behavioral Health Care Center.
The Brookshire's Consumer of the Year Award went to Tyler Acker.
Debbie Davenport, one of the awards presenters said, "I think just seeing the people when they get the awards and their families, just sharing in that excitement."
The Tyler Iron and Metal Achievement Award went to Roy Massey. The Heaton Eye Associates Achievement Award went to Wesley Lemons.
March is recognized nationwide as Mental Retardation Month. It's a time set aside to reflect on the quality of life for people with mental retardation and the prevention of this condition.
