DPS identifies students killed in fatal rollover wreck

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified a person that died after a rollover wreck Saturday afternoon.

DPS Trooper Jean Dark says 18-year-old Chandlor Allen, of DeSoto, Texas, was flown to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He later succumbed to his injuries around midnight Sunday morning.

Trooper Dark says the wreck, which occurred at 2:35 p.m., was a result of a blown tire. A 1998 Ford Ranger, being driven by 18-year-old Keenan Clark II, of DeSoto, rolled several times after the back left tire blew out on I-20 west just outside of Van. Both the front seat passenger, 18-year-old Anferne Allen, of Desoto, and Chandlor were ejected from the vehicle, and were not wearing seat belts at the time of the wreck.

Keenan Clark II and Anferne Allen were taken to Trinity Mother Frances hospital and are in critical condition according to hospital representative, William Knous.

Texas College assistant coach Shaquille Thomas confirms the men were on the baseball team at the college. He says the two injured remain hospitalized but are expected to make a full recovery.
