Hall Honored As Person Of Vision

He's represented East Texas in Congress for a quarter century, and Tuesday night he was the toast of the town. Congressman Ralph Hall was honored Tuesday night in Tyler, with Prevent Blindness Texas' People of Vision Award.

State Senator, Kevin Eltife served as master of ceremonies for all the speakers who toasted Congressman Hall. Every year, Prevent Blindness honors a person for their clear perspective and farsightedness in community service and devotion to their fellow man.

"It's an honor to get to help with battling blindness under any circumstances," says the 4th District, U.S. Congressman. "But the major honor is being with the men and women who have gone before that have received this award. I don't really belong in that category. I feel honored and humble to be there."

Congressman Hall is the 23rd recipient of the People of Vision Award. The dinner is the largest fundraiser for Prevent Blindness. Last year alone, the local branch screened thousands of people for vision problems and provided hundreds with free eye exams, glasses and treatment.
