Cowboys defense looking to improve in year two under Rod Marinelli

The defense will look to improve in 2015. The defense will look to improve in 2015.

After ranking dead last in the NFL in 2013, the Cowboys defense was vastly improved under first year defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli last season.

Dallas ended up 15th in points allowed, but ranked second in the league with 31 takeaways. The biggest area of improvement needs to come in taking down the quarterback.

The cowboys were 28th in sacks in 2014. With the addition of Greg Hardy and Randy Gregory, Dallas is up for the challenge

"That means a lot when you can add to the pass rush, but you know everyone has to do their job," linebacker Anthony Hitchens said. "You have to get the one on ones and hopefully they make plays off for this team."

Marinelli added, "I think when you get different pieces, you got to mold it together." As a defense everyone has to be disciplined and everything on the same page, same platform. But we got in some some good players, for sure.
