U.T.T. Baseball Ready For First Ever True Home Stand

Saturday is a milestone day for the U.T. Tyler Patriots, as they will begin their first ever true home stand.

The second-year program played last season at Tyler's Faulker Park, but now construction is almost complete on the college's new Baseball/Softball facility.

"I couldn't wait," senior second baseman J. Michael Sharon says. "Even on my recruiting trip, I was looking forward to the new field."

It's an interesting juxtaposition during practice at the field, with metal bats clanging with drills and hammers working in the background. While the outside facilities are still under construction, the field is ready.

"Everything we need to win Saturday is in place," coach James Vilade says.

It's another new experience for the second year program, and this season opener may be even bigger than their first ever game last year.
