Lebanon To Bury Slain Ex-Premier

Tens of thousands of mourners are gathering for today's funeral service in Lebanon for the man credited with rebuilding the country after its civil war.

The casket of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri has been moved from a hospital to his home in a posh Beirut neighborhood. It was draped in a red, white and green Lebanese flag.

Security is tight for the funeral procession, which will begin at Hariri's compound and wind for nearly two miles to his burial place at Beirut's Mohammed al-Amin mosque. A large number of police officers and troops are guarding Hariri's home, as well as the route of the procession and downtown Beirut. Streets also are blocked off.

Many in Lebanon blame Syria for carrying out Monday's car bombing that killed Hariri.
