EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Kelly Kirkland has donated hundreds of hours of his time painting patriotic murals, but his biggest painting yet is the one he's finishing for Tyler's American Legion Post 12.
The mural is on a 20-by-15 foot wall and depicts all branches of the service in their historic moments. Even though Kirkland always had a talent for art, it was his fellow Marines when he was stationed in Okinawa, who encouraged him to practice it.
After the Marine Corps, Kirkland opened "Kelly's Tattoos" in Tyler to "pay the bills" as he puts it, for his growing family. And yet, Kelly Kirkland still finds time to donate his art for patriotic causes.
