Jacksonville HS names new baseball & softball coaches

Jacksonville ISD Press Release

Jacksonville ISD Athletic Director Wayne Coleman is happy to announce Kyle Dezern as the new JISD Head Baseball Coach for 2015-16. Coach Dezern comes to Jacksonville from Frankston where he was Head Baseball Coach for the 2012, 2013, and 2014 seasons.

While in Frankston, Dezern's team tied for 4th place and had their first winning season of the past 15 years. They averaged 11 runs a game and had a 2.51 ERA in district play. His team also swept the district champions (Hawkins). The Frankston Indians had the highest batting average as a team in the past 3 years (.357).

Coleman says that Coach Dezern "started last week and has been at the field house daily working with and getting to know the boys. Coach Dezern encourages multi-sport athletes and plans to open the batting cages for the boys in the mornings when the weight workout is complete".

Also announced is the JISD Maidens Head Softball Coach, Brittney Batten. Coach Batten has been in Overton as the softball coach for the past two years. She played college softball at UT-Tyler, and participated in the College World Series. "Our softball program is very suited to her talent level", says Coach Coleman, and "we are excited about the program she will bring to JHS".

JISD welcomes these two new Indians to the team. As always, JISD is focused on "empowering champions".
