The trial of a former East Texas police officer accused of aggravated sexual assault of a child has ended in a mistrial.
After deliberating for more than five hours Friday, a jury in Wood County could not reach a decision in the fate of former Hawkins police officer Richard Wilson.
Wilson was arrested back in September of 2003 after a young girl came forward, claiming he had sexually assaulted her.
Wood County District Attorney Mark Taylor said another jury will be chosen, and they will attempt to try Wilson once more on the charges.
He said there is no time frame on when that process should begin.
