EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -
Good Thursday morning East Texas! We are still tracking bands of showers and thunderstorms from the remnants of Bill moving across the area today. It is moving rather slowly, now making its way into the southeastern portions of Oklahoma. The rain bands, however, continue to increase across East Texas, keeping the chance for heavy downpours and a few isolated thunderstorms in the forecast for today. We could see an additional 1-2" of rainfall today. The rain should not persist all day, but be more off-and-on with some brief heavy downpours possible at times, which could bring the potential for flooding. Flash Flood Watches are still posted for Delta, Henderson, Hopkins, Hunt, Kaufman, Rains and Van Zandt counties until 7 PM this evening. Flash Flood Warnings are in effect until 5 AM for our Deep East Texas counties including Angelina, Nacogdoches, Sabine, San Augustine and Shelby counties until 5 AM this morning.Winds will be gusty at times as well today, reaching 20-30 mph. The good news is, as Bill continues to move to the northeast, our weather will start to improve as we get closer to the weekend. We could still see a 20-30% chance for lingering showers on Friday morning, but by the afternoon and continuing into the weekend, I am expecting us to dry out and see a lot more sunshine! The first day of summer and Father's Day is on Sunday, and it will be a hot one! Temperatures will return to the 90s through next week, but looks like our dry weather pattern will continue.Have a great Thursday!?Copyright 2015 KLTV. All rights reserved.
