Proud of East Texas: Jackson York


Jackson York fell in love with food early when he began working in an Atlanta hotel kitchen. He was introduced to East Texas diners in 2006 at the Edom Bakery where he introduced the concept of "Country Gourmet."

York was selected "Texas Chef of the Year" in 2010 by the Texas Chef's Association. His most recent culinary honor is induction into the "American Academy of Chefs."

In 2012, York became Executive Chef and Food Director at the Lakeview Methodist Conference Center in Palestine. Even though the camp is open year round, its summer, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, is when it's filled to capacity. 

Campers range from 300 to 7,500 in August when the Texas A&M Freshman arrive, extending a sixty year tradition.
