Hallsville softball eager to make school history

The Hallsville softball team will playing for more than each other at the state tournament.   The Ladycats will be playing for every Hallsville athlete to suit up in purple.

"This is the biggest goal I've ever had," said Hallsvillejunior Julie Rawls.

Hallsville High School has never won a state championship in any sport. The Ladycats are two wins away from finally adding to the championship trophy case.

"We definitely want to make history," said Rawls.  "You can come back ten years later and be like we're the first team that took home a state championship. Maybe we'll start a new thing and have other sports win it."

With Hallsville history on the line, the Ladycats are feeling the love from entire community.

"Everybody is behind us," said Hallsville senior Cassidy Ferrill.  "I've had multiple texts and Facebook messages, everything you can imagine. Even other towns and places wishing we could keep East Texas in this thing."

The Ladycats appreciate the trip to state, but the say the work isn't over. This feel good story, can only have one happy ending.

"We know we deserve to be here," said Hallsville senior Kelsey Ingram.  "We know if we do what we need to do and get the job done that we will bring back a state title."

Hallsville plays in the 5A semifinals on Friday at noon.
