A long week of tennis had a happy ending for Spring Hill freshman Dawson Penn Thursday night in Tyler.  Penn's 4A Singles State Final with Dallas Madison's Bradley Loftis was moved from College Station to Tyler Junior College.  During the second set, Penn and Loftis were forced to move across town to the indoor courts at The Cascades.

Penn defeated Loftis in the third and final set 6-4, to win the 4A crown.  Loftis was attempting to become the first Dallas ISD boys tennis player to win state since 1929.

"It was really crazy with all the rainouts, all the waiting," said Penn.  "I'm just happy I got the win because it was super hard waiting to play and all the delays."

The freshman says it's hard to believe he's the best in the state.

"I didn't think I could win," Penn said.  "But I kept believing and I got it. I won."
