Johnny Lee Williams Back In East Texas

Johnny Lee Williams Jr. arrived in Tyler shortly after three this afternoon. When he got off the plane he was wearing a bullet proof vest and was surrounded by 5 law enforcement officers.
Then moments later while escorting Williams to a patrol car, several state and local officers formed a human shield around him.

Then a 5 car motorcade took Williams to the Smith County Jail.

Law enforcement sources tell KLTV 7 the reason for the tight security was because of death threats made against Williams. Security was so tight that deputies were even on guard at the underground entrance to the jail. The officers then formed a line guarding the entrance to the jail after Williams was brought in.

Sheriff JB Smith tells us Williams will also be under tight security in the jail.

"We'll be very cautious with him because of the case itself. We'll have him in a side cell, single occupancy. He will not be around other prisoners. This is a high profile case, one of the most high profile in many years in Tyler. We want to make sure no gets hurt," says Sheriff Smith.

Sheriff Smith also says when Williams is moved form his cell he will always be with a lieutenant and a guard.
