TJC women's hoops sends 5 players to D-I programs

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The TJC women's basketball team celebrated a talented and winning class on Monday.  The Apache Ladies sent five players to division one programs and one manager.

"This is a great day, an awesome day," said Kent State signee Chelsi Watson.  "My heart was racing the whole time even before the signing."

Watson and the sophomore class combined to win 59 games over the past two years, with two trips to the NJCAA National Tournament.

"I feel like we'll be ready for the next level because we've been through a lot here and worked hard to be where we're at," said Amber Driver.  "I'm proud of all of us."

Driver signed with Appalachian State.  The headliner of the group was Victoria Kemokai.  Kemokai heads to the Big 10 to play at Indiana.

"When I was younger I always wanted to play at a bigger division one school so I'm getting a chance to do that," said Kemokai.  "Now it's time to go out there and show everybody who Victoria Kemokai is at the next level."

Also signing were Brittny Norris (Southern Miss), Sandy Jackson (Central Arkansas) and Shamira Eaton (North Texas).
