Bush Hits The Road To Promote Social Security Reform

President Bush is heading into America on a new campaign: A sales pitch for his plan to remake Social Security.

On the heels of his prime time State of the Union address to Congress, Bush is traveling to four states today and tomorrow. Each state is represented in the Senate by at least one Democrat Bush hopes to lure into his Social Security overhaul.

First stop? North Dakota. He won that state handily in the fall elections, but early signals are not so positive this time around. Some Democrats say Bush's program could reduce guaranteed government benefits for younger Americans by 40 percent. Bush offered no information on that point last night.

In addition to North Dakota, Bush has Montana, Arkansas and Florida on his itinerary.
