Second Council Member Makes Bid For Mayor

Dr. Andy Mack says he's just the man to stop the bickering among Longview city council members. "This community is clear, they want the Jerry Springer show at city hall ended," said Mack Tuesday during a press conference.

Dr. Mack has decided to run for mayor. He made his announcement to a packed audience at the library. Mack says although not everyone has agreed with his decisions on the council, he's always done what he thought was best for Longview. "I think my 8 years of service on the counsel shows my dedication to the city. People know where my heart is. They know that what I do, I do for the betterment of the community and it has nothing to do with the betterment of me," says Mack.

Dr. Mack is now the third candidate to run for mayor after Murray Moore resigned a few weeks ago. Fellow city councilman Jay Dean and teacher Julie Johnson-Ray have already announced their run for the seat.

The special election for the mayor position is May 7th.
