TYLER, TX (KLTV) - After playing seven seasons at historic Driller Park, The East Texas Pump Jacks have left Kilgore.

Kilgore's loss is Tyler's gain.  The Pump Jacks will play the 2015 season at UT Tyler.

"This is a bittersweet moment and while my smile is what everyone sees, there is apart of my heart that hurts," said Pump Jacks general manager and co-owner Mike Lieberman.  "We are leaving behind a lot of people that supported the team."

"It's a difficult decision leaving any market," said Pump Jacks co-owner Alan Poff.  "But it's a chance for us to grow. It's a much bigger market. You have the media here and we have a great relationship with the college. It just made complete sense from a financial standpoint in particular."

The Pump Jacks have enjoyed great success in Kilgore, winning 4 division titles and a TCL championship.  Lieberman believes moving to Tyler was essential to keep the team in East Texas.

"We needed to make a change for the long-term viability of this franchise," said Lieberman.  "There are more people and a larger market in Tyler and we weren't serving it as well as we could."

Lieberman hopes fans from Kilgore will be able to make the drive to Tyler to continue supporting the team.  East Texas baseball fans can expect to continue seeing some of the best baseball players in the country.  The Pump Jacks have had more than 50 players drafted by Major League Baseball teams.

"In seven years, 52 drafted players, dozens that have played pro baseball," said Lieberman.  "We've try to bring in some of the best players from around the country. We're looking forward to bringing that here for Tyler."

The Pump Jacks home opener at Irwin UT Tyler Ballpark is June 4.
