Good afternoon! We hope your Tuesday is going well.

Here are some of the stories we've been working on today:

1. Texas Rangers are investigating after Henderson County deputies exchanged fire with a man while attempting to serve a warrant Tuesday afternoon. Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt says deputies were attempting to serve a warrant for evading arrest, when the suspect met the officers at the door with a rifle. The suspect began firing at deputies, who fired back, hitting the man.

2. A Texas Senate committee has made changes to a proposed bill, dubbed "Kari's Law," changing the way multi-line telephone systems work at a Tuesday committee hearing in Austin. In a Texas Senate Business and Commerce Committee hearing Tuesday, lawmakers chose not to send the bill ahead to the Senate, opting instead to revisit the vote next week after changes can be made.

3. A pretrial hearing for Bernie Tiede has been canceled and a prosecutor in the case removed. District Attorney Danny Buck Davidson was removed after filing a motion Monday to recuse himself and other prosecutors in his Panola County District Attorney's Office from the Bernie Tiede case.

4. A child is in the hospital and a man is in jail after a vehicle struck a 5-year-old boy in Palestine. Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Victory Street after receiving a call that a child was struck by a vehicle.

5. A Harrison County man charged in the death of his 7-month-old child is in jail again facing new charges. Jason Alonzo Jones, who was charged with capital murder in a 2013 incident, surrendered himself after a warrant for his arrest was issued last week, stemming from an assault/family violence charge. He was originally released from jail Dec. 23, 2014 on a surety bond, but officials say the assault charge violated the terms of that bond.

6. The Longview Fire Department received a call of a house fire on Buchanan Avenue and Hutchings Boulevard around 2 p.m. Tuesday. A Fire Marshal said the fire started in a back room of the house, and has moved into the attic, where firefighters are attempting to access it from the roof. Residents were able to get out of the home safely.

7. After months of eager anticipation, East Texans can now take a look inside Tyler's newest grocery store: Natural Grocers. Featuring all-organic, non-GMO groceries, the store will also offer ready made snacks, books, and classes. The store's grand opening was Tuesday, located at 4820 S. Broadway.
