COPY-Pre-election violence continues in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq Insurgents continue to launch attacks in the run-up to Sunday's elections in Iraq.

A hospital official says three Iraqis were killed and seven injured today when a roadside bomb missed a U-S convoy traveling about 20 miles south of Baghdad.

Near Tikrit (tih-KREET'), another roadside bomb -- also intended for a convoy -- killed an Iraqi.

In Samarra, police say armed men blew up a school administration building after first ordering the staff to leave. The building was supposed to be used for the voting. Police also say sporadic clashes in the area have left at least one Iraqi dead and another injured.

In other violence, the U-S military says an American soldier was injured when his convoy was attacked near Kirkuk (keer-KUK') by small arms fire and a roadside bomb. Five people have been arrested.
