SFA fans show support as 'Jacks head to Portland

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - SFA students are on spring break, but passion for Lumberjack hoops is not.  The SFA men's basketball team left for Portland Tuesday morning, receiving well wishes from a sea of purple.  Fans young and old showed their support.

"We don't care if they're coming from retirement home or if they're just newborns," said SFA senior Jacob Parker.  "We're happy to have everyone."

"We just love supporting our 'Jacks and I think the adults just enjoy watching those kids out there and enjoy supporting them," said SFA fan Shanna Magee.

The support is special to head coach Brad Underwood, who may be the most popular man in Nacogdoches.  Underwood told the crowd that his team would be representing Nacogdoches and the state of Texas.

"There's going to be plenty of purple there in the crowd hopefully," said SFA junior Thomas Walkup.  "But we'll know we have a lot here in Nacogdoches."

Walkup thanked the crowd, and boarded the bus.  It's time to dance.
