Teenager Killed In Weekend Accident

Another tragic death for Henderson. Saturday a 16-year-old teenage girl is killed in an apparent drunk driving accident.

16-year-old Nati Chavez was killed when the car she was riding in was hit from behind. It happened on Highway 31 between Kilgore and Longview. 21-year-old Elisabeth Allard was driving the car that hit Chavez's vehicle. Police say Allard reeked of alcohol and admitted to taking the drug Xanex. She's charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Nati's father and her three sisters were also in the car. They had non-life threatening injuries.

In a statement today, Henderson high school principal Stacey Sullivan said, "Students and faculty at Henderson high school are doing their best to cope with the two tragedies. It is our hope that both Megan and Nati will be remembered as outstanding young ladies who left a positive impact on Henderson High School."
