Woman Charged In Fatal Longview Accident

An East Texas woman is arrested for "intoxication manslaughter" after an auto accident claims the life of a Henderson girl. State troopers say it happened around 4 pm yesterday, when one vehicle ran into the back of another northbound vehicle on highway 31 near the Sabine River bridge. The impact knocked the victim's vehicle over the embankment, causing it to roll several times, after which it landed in the water upside-down.

16-year-old "Nati" Chavez died as a result of the accident. 21-year-old Elisabeth Allard, who had previously been arrested for drunk driving, admitted to police that she had taken "Xanex" and authorites say she reeked of alcohol. She was charged with intoxication manslaughter. An autopsy has been ordered to find out whether Chavez died from injury or drowning.

Allard is being held on 100-thousand dollars bond, and a sample of her blood is being tested to determine her blood-alcohol level at the time of the accident.
