  • Sherrie, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I can only imagine what you are going through and feeling. I remember Megan and Crista from when they were little girls and I worked at Little Bears in Chandler where they attended day care. Megan was a very sweet and loving child and did not deserve this to happen. Rely on the strength of God to get you through this and be strong.I know it is very hard and unbarable right now but you are a very strong woman and have a loving family and friends to lean on and get you throught this difficult and traggic time. My family and I will continue to pray for you and your family....Karen Yarbrough

  • When tomorrow starts without me
And I'm not there to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
    The way you did today
While thinking of the many things
    We didn't get to say

I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
And each time that you think of me
I know you'll miss me too
But when tomorrow starts without me
    Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand
And said my place was ready
    In heaven far above
And that I'd have to leave behind
    All those I dearly love

But when I walked through heaven's gates
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me
    >From His great golden throne
    He said "This is eternity
    And all I've promised you"
Today for life on earth is past
    But here it starts anew
    I promise no tomorrow
    For today will always last
And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past
So when tomorrow starts without me
    Don't think we're far apart
For every time you think of me
I'm right here in your heart

  • I am very sorry to hear about Meagan's death. I never knew of
her until that night she was abducted, but when I saw her pictures I could
tell that she wasa gentle and kind person. All day long the next day I was
hoping that she would be alright. It really broke my heart to hear that
her body had been found the next day. Once again I am sorry for your loss.
I hope that you will be ok. Logan Etheridge

  • To the Megan Holden family;  I am Martha Hawkins mother-in-law
and I understand that Megan's grandmother, Betty goes on the Mac Med Team
on their medical missinoary trips.  Martha told me the tragic news about
Megan's kidnapping and death.  You all have my deepest sympathy and I am
so sorry for the loss of your daughter in this tragic way.  Martha told me
that Megan was a fine Christian young lady and we know she is at rest in
her eternal home.  Again let me express to you again how deeply sorry I am
and we at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church are praying for the family at this
time and are asking God to wrap you in His arms and comfort you as no one
    else can.

  •  Sherri, I just wanted to send my condolences to you and your
family. Being a mother of 3 girls myself i can only imagine what you are
going through. Megan was a beautiful girl. I remember her from Wildewood
and from Chandler when she was growing up. Crisa and Julie were friends

  • To the Family & Friends of Megan,

Though I am thousands of miles away in Hawaii & didn't even have the pleasure of knowing Megan, I feel the pain of your loss so deeply that tears are in my eyes as I write this. Perhaps it is because I have daughters too. Or, the heartbreak with losing one of my children (a boy)years ago. But, if I had known Megan I would want to focus on the beauty of her life. It is that memory which will help in the healing process with the tragic loss of this dear person. It is very evident Megan had a countenance of beauty that touched people around her. A most important part of that beauty is the mutual love there had been between her & her family & her many friends. With alohas of sympathy, Laura L. Dunagan Honolulu, Hawaii

  • May God  keep you in his loving embrace in this time of  the
worst sorrow imagineable ...Deacon Bill Necessary and family

  • We have an anchor that keeps the soul steadfast and sure while
the billows roll, fastened to the Rock which cannot move, grounded firm
and deep in the Savior's love.  I pray that God will give you strength to
endure the pain.  Bless you. Evelyn

  •  I can by no means say, "I know how you feel," nor can I say
anything else that will take away any of your pain. I just want to let you
know, that your family is in my prayers, and I hope that you will rely on
the Lord's strength to get you through this. Also, Take some comfort in
the fact that you will see her again. I am told she knew the Lord, and if
this is true, you will one day be reunited with her in Heaven, where she
won't even remember any of this happened. Remember, there are no tears or
bad memories in Heaven. Remember also, "they that wait upon the Lord shall
renew their strength... they that walk and not faint." Don't ever give up
on your lives due to the loss of hers. She is in a much better place now.
Not that you will ever toally recover from your great loss, but with the
Lord's help, you will be able to get through this trying time. "The trying
of our faith worketh patience." I pray that God uses this terrible event
in your lives to touch the lives of others, and make them think, "what if
that happened to me," so that they may also come to know the Lord for
themselves, when they might not have otherwise done. One last Bible verse:
"All things work together for good to them that love God." Brandy Castaneda

  • The Lord is my help in time of trouble
I am raised high above all the turmoil and rubble.
He lifts me above all the fear and doubt.
He replaces my mourning with a joyous shout.
He leads me beside the still waters of life.
He says I've borne all your pain and strife.
    He is my flaming fire.
He knows my every hearts desire.
When trials come I trust no man.
I simply reach out and take his hand.
It's then He soothes my aching soul.
He draws me closer and His arms enfold.
The comfort and strength I find in His arms
Dispels all fear and keeps me from harm.
There's not one thing this world can offer
That compares to the love of my Heavenly Father.
The things of this world grow old and they fade
For by the hand of man they all were made.
But the strength, joy and peace I have in my soul
Will carry me eternally as I walk streets of pure gold.

We are praying for your entire family.  We cannot begin to imagine what
you are all going through.   Know that many, many people are praying for
    you all.
    April and David

  • We are so sorry to hear about the death of your daughter.  We
lost our son in October of 2002, in a construction accident.  Fell 30ft to
his death.  We never got to say goodbye.  I can truly say that I do know
how you feel.  I won't tell you that time will help, it just makes it
different.  if you ever need to just talk, I can listen, I will probably
cry but I am a very good listener and so is my husband.  Again, We're so
sorry, please let God help you thru this horrible ordeal.  Peace of Christ
be with you and your family.  Joanne and Ben Jansen

  • Sherrie...the girls and I are thinking about you...i can't
express here what needs to be done to that evil man for taking your angel
away...i will be going through pictures today and pulling out the ones of
Megan as a small child from our outings.I will see that you get them.

  •  I worked with Megan at Wal-Mart and had just left 15 mins.
before Megan.  When I left I saw this man sitting on the bench in front of
the store but by the grace of God someone walked with me that night. Any
other night I would have been walking alone. I can't help but think that
if I had just waited a little longer to leave or if I had just done some
shopping like I usually do then maybe Megan wouldn't have been walking
alone.  It just breaks my heart and makes me wonder why such a thing had
to happen.  Please know that I'm praying for your family and may GOD keep
you and wrap you in his loving arms.  We will all miss Megan as she was
such a sweet young lady. Teresa

I had a friend who earlier this year lost her baby at only 59 minutes old. This is a poem someone wrote for her, I thought I would share it with you.

Damon. i know that she was having a hard time dealing with his death and

  • To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and
that is where your sweet Meagan is now. God needed another beautiful
flower for  heaven today and He reached down and picked Meagan.  He took
my sweet Daddy this past summer and the emptiness is difficult, but my
comfort is in knowing that we will be together again some day soon.  My
prayer is that the Lord give your family the strength for each day to come
and that you find comfort in the wonderful memories you have. Meagan is
loved by all of East Texas and today I think all of East Texas felt like
we lost a child.  In Christ Love  - Reta

    • I am short for words, but feel so much your pain. I can only
imagine your anger and dispair. May God bless your little angel Megan, and
may he give you the strength to accept this tragedy.  My heart aches for
you.  I have a daughter, and I fear what you are going through.  We are
all with you in our hearts and prayers. I am sending you a warm embrace.

    •  I am so very sorry for the tragic loss of your beautiful
daughter having girls close to Megan's age I could not imagine the
nightmare you are living if it is any consolation to you there are
thousands of people praying for your family.  At my job we kept the TV on
the news hoping for the best outcome. We all, when we heard the tragic
      ending we were all heartbroken
I know there is nothing any person can do to make this situation any
To have such a lovely young woman taken away from her family so young. I
have watched every news segment and the only words of comfort I can find
are that God has a plan for Megan and even though we don't understand now
one day we will. God needed another angel and thought Megan would make a
perfect one.  I can not imagine the feelings your family has.

Megan's uncle came into the Burger King at I-20 Thursday and I just want
to thank him for talking to my 16 year old daughter Lauren she never
thought anything like this would ever happen this close to home.  She has
just started driving but now she is asking about safety and what she
should do... Again I am so sorry for your loss and will pray for your
family you all are on many prayer lists all over East Texas ...michelle smith

  • I was heart broken to hear of this horrible tragedy.  I have
been watching since word of the Amber Alert hoping they would find her
saftely.  I have a daughter and cannot imagine the loss you must feel
right now.  Just know that she is in a better place and that she will be
happy there.  She will be missed by so many people.  Keep your faith in
the Lord and you will one day see her again. Danielle B

  • No words will express how I felt this morning. The first word of hearing
about Meagan. I froze in the bathroom. Something drove me to the TV. I
prayed all day for you to find some news of hope, just to know something.
As getting a sandwich at a local shop near work, I heard the horrible
news. My heart just broke, for her. HER. I pray so much for you and your
family. Today try to find peace and know tomorrow, God is by your side. As
well as a million people whom our heart breaks for your pain. God bless
you. Hold your faith and trust in God's guidance. Keep faith in knowing
all have been affected by this lost. We love ya'll. Prayers are with you
    daily. Stacy LaFleur

  • I did not know Megan Holden, but from the bottom of my heart I
pray for her family and friends to have strength and God in their hearts
as they proceed into the future. I am only 21 and I can't imagine what you
all are going through or what Megan went through, but I have been touched
by Megan and so has the rest of the country. I have shed tears for a girl
my age I do not know and for a family I do not know and tonight I will
pray to God for a young girl and a family   that needs all the prayers,
support, and love they can get. Megan is in all of our hearts- family,
friends, and strangers, of which I am. May God surroud you all w/angels.

  • To the Holden Family:  Our hearts and prayers are with you.  I
recall meeting Megan at Snow Flake in Henderson.  She was always smiling
and very helpful.  She even made my partner and I laugh on many occasions,
when she would joke around with us.  She was so full of joy and happiness.
She will always be remembered.  The lord has a new angel on his staff.
The lord will help you all in the healing process and remember Phil. 4:13.
God Bless your family.  We extent our condolences to your family and you
    are in our prayers.

beautiful daughter.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  And may I also

I pray that both families will find their strength in God to get through
all this devasting heartache. Karen McClellan

  •  God's arms are holding Megan tight tonite----He is saying to her
"Welcome Home".  You have lost your Angel in a very horriffic way--but God
has her at His side--safe and sound. We pray for all of you through this
heartbreaking time---from her birth at MFH to Little Dribblers to BJHS it
seems like yesterday.  Cling to all your wonderful memories and know that
you are never alone---God Bless you all.  Sherry Millard, Sherry and Girls

I knew Megan through Damon Roquemore. We didnt get along that
well but after his death, it brought us together. I totally felt for her.
I wouldnt have known how to handle the death of my boyfriend of 4 years. I
really wanted to talk to her afterwards to just let her know Damon really
loved her. I got the chance to talk to her. We came to peace with each
other & just talked about things. I just printed out her e/mail to me that
I will forever keep close to me. She was definantly a strong girl to keep
her head up for the last 3 months. When I heard about her kidnapping, I
became hot & my heart started pounding. I couldnt believe it. She didnt
deserve this. I wanted her to come home safe. I know now she is with the
one guy she loved dearly. I know this is what she wants. I'm so glad they
are together now. Megan & Damon were truely meant to be. I love you Megan!
Your in such a better place now.

Damon Dewayne Roquemore & Megan LeAnn Holden

  • From the minute I heard about Megan, I began to pray for her.  I also
asked the Lord to sustain you and your other daughter.  I feel very lucky
to have watched Megan grow up.  I enjoyed the times she was in the shop
getting ready for the dances and proms.  Just know that you will be able
to get thru this very difficult only thru Jesus Christ.  Kim Roberts Reaves

  •  I would like to say that my wife and I feel the loss also. Even
though we did not know your daughter it still hits home. I recently lost
my 4 year old daughter and know that there is nothing that any one can do
to lessen the pain. Please know that there are many people praying for you
and your family. I cannot begin to understand what would drive a man to
commit these barbaric acts. I pray that the Lord will comfort you in what
must be the most unbearable things that a porson could ever go through.
The hardest thing that I ever did was to bury my little girl. I pray that
the Lord will help you through this and give you the strength to move on
in life. Megan is in a better place now . Sincerely, The Theriot Family.

  •   I graduated with Megan at Henderson, this world will never be
the same with her here.  She was a very nice young women, even though I
didnt assiociate with her that much because of the diffrence in the
friends we had, but she would talk to anyone who ever walked up to her or
who walked past her. I am truly sorry about this, and your family is in my
    prayers every night. JB Herron

  •  Dear Mr. and Mrs. Holden:
It was just a week ago when I met your beautiful daughter as I went to her
register to pay for my groceries. She was very, very kind in helping me
with a little situation that I had. After talking to the manager she told
me how sorry she was she could't help me more.
Today, I broke in tears as I watched the news.
Her story has helped me get a reality check about the evil around us. It
was just yesterday when I was feeding my baby at the wal-mart parking
lot(where I go almost every other day) with the doors of my car wide
open... I definately won't do that anymore. I hope you can find some
comfort ,which could never compensate for the loss,in knowing how her
tragedy has helped hundreds of woman like me  realize how vulnerable we

I pray that you can find refuge in Christ who strengthen us. And remember
"that neither death nor life, neither angels or demons, neither the
present nor the future..neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all
creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God" (Romans
    8:38-39). ...yaditza

  • To the Holden Family, I'm am truly sorry for your great loss. I
didn't know Megan but from all I've heard I wish I had. I could have used
alot of her sunshine in my life. May God be with you and yours. And know
that you are always in our prayers. Martha

  • Your loss is horrible.   How can one human being do something
like this to another human being?  We know these things happen all the
time, yet, it's still unspeakably horrific!  I can only imagine what you
are feeling.  All you can do is live one minute at a time.  I pray that
she didn't suffer long.  I thank God her abductor is in custody and sounds
like there's no question that this IS the guilty party.  May God reveal to
him the severity of his actions.
No doubt she has joined her boyfriend and I pray that God has a special
place for them both.  My prayers go out to all of you, Megan's family,
    Megan's friends.
Let yourselves grieve thoroughly as we are to do in times of loss.  As you
pass through time, may you slowly but surely feel the Lord's peace for
you.  I especially pray that you know that God didn't cause this or just
allow it.   He has given each and every one of us FREE will.  Some people
exercise that free will in unspeakable ways.  May the Lord send you an
angel to watch over you as you heal.  All you have to do is ask sincerely.
    God bless,
    Toni from MD

  • I don't know were to begin, Being a parent of two young children
I can't hardly imagine what was going on in your minds when you first
heard that Megan was abducted. It's a parent's worse nightmare to ever
have happened. When I first got the call through a church member to start
a prayer chain for Megan yesterday afternoon I started to pray soon has a
hung-up the phone. I didn't know your daughter but I did know her
Grandmother and her Grandmother's sister from the Church we all attend. So
I sent up prayers not only for Megan, but to you and all your family
members. I am sorry to hear that it had to end this way but we all know
that it din't end for Megan, for now she is free from this world and from
it's dangers, toils & snares for she is now safe at home with Jesus.I will
continue to pray for your family and ask God to bring you peace, comfort
and understanding. We may never know why this had to happen but I can
assure this for God has his reason's; and we know that all things work
together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called
according to his purpose Rom.8:28. Again my family sends our Love and
support to your family during a time when comfort and strenthen is needed.
With Love & Prayers, The LaMotte Family

  • I graduated with Megan at HHS..she was a great girl that had
many friends. Everytime you would see Megan she would have a smile on her
face, and others would be smiling along with her. This is a tragic lose
for the class of 2004, she will always be remembered in our hearts
forever. Remember, there are no tears past the gates of Heaven. God Bless

  • If only you could know how the shock of this has resonated
accross our state.  Those of us so far away from Henderson cannot fathom
that one of our own from our familiar town has been the object of such a
tragedy. I only knew her as a sweet girl who worked at Snowflake, but you
know the impact she had on the people who knew her well. I know there is
nothing I can say to make this any better or easier for your family,  but
I hope the knowledge that so many of us are thinking about and praying for
your family while remembering your daughter, could be something to uplift
your hearts. May God bless you and uplift your family through this painful
    time in your life.

  • Dear Holden Family,

I was a substitute teacher for Henderson when Megan was a sophomore and
junior at HHS.  I had Megan in several classes, and it always, ALWAYS made
my day to see her.  She always spoke to me, called me by my name, and was
an absolute joy to be around, and to have in class.  You know, when you're
a sub, you walk in with a target on you most of the time as it is.  Megan
always removed it from me.  Her courtesy, her kindness, her generosity of
spirit was so evident in everything she did, and being a student in my
classrooms was no different.  It is important to me that you understand
that I am telling you this not out of sentimentality, but because it is
true.  Her presence in class was always a very bright light for me.  So,
while I remember lots of students from HHS, I remember and think of none
    more than Megan.

Thank you for Megan.  Thank you for raising the kind of child who makes
the world a better place.  She certainly made it better for me.

    Thomas Harris

  • May God be with you through this time of sorrow. I have a 19
year old daughter and I can't even imagine going through this. My prayers
and thoughts will be with you.  Twenty years ago I lost a friend Carol,
who was 19 years old. Her mother went through such pain and sorrow.  Now
I'm a mother of a 19 year old and my heart goes out to you and Phyllis.
    May God be with you.

  • I would like to say to the Holden Family that Megan was a very
sweet person. I only knew her for short period of time. She and I had a
conversation about a week or so ago, about what time did I get off when I
told her that it really did'nt matter what time I got off.I was just tired
of everyone asking the same question. I would like to say that I am deeply
sorry for jumping down her throat whenever she asked. I feel that she may
have been asking for a reason. I usually get off @ that time. May she was
looking for someone to walk out with that paticular night. I don't
know. Her reply was that she always wanted to know who she was going to be
working with. I feel that if I had of worked that night we could have
walked out together or something.Maybe I was suppose to have been her
gardian angel or something. I don't know... I would like to say I'M SORRY.
She will be missed dearly. ...Kimberly Barrett

  •  I just saw the news report about Megan and it broke my heart to
hear what has happened to her.  I do not know Megan, but my heart hurts
for she and her family.  I would like to share this prayer for her with
you as it weighs heavily on my heart.

  • Dear Heavenly Father,  I would like to pray for Megan and her family in
this tragic time. I can only hope that she is now in your arms and you
will bring her to a place where there is no violence or fear.  I pray that
you will love her, keep her safe and return her again to the love of her
life. I would also like to pray for the forgiveness of  Johnny as all of
your children deserve. I truly believe that he had a sick heart which lead
him to do what he did.  Please watch over both families as they grieve for
their children and lead them down a path of forgiveness and love in memory
of Megan.  These things I pray inthe name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.....Wendy Arnold

  •  I am a father of four children and can't fathom the deep hurt
and anger and who know's what else at this moment in time. Just wanted to
say that we love you and are so sad for you and are simply praying for you
constantly. We pray for God to give you comfort and strength in the days
    to come! ...john pruden

  •  From a single mother of a 21 yr old daughter, and 10 yr old
son, we send our love and prayers. Nothing at all can be said to make
things better, but know that Megan loves you and is with you. I recently
lost my grandmother, and 2 months later my mother, both unexpected.
Although it does NOT compare to losing a child, I can only assume the pain
would be even worse.. the one thing that always comes first is FAITH. It
will help when nothing else will. ...Terri Armitage

  •  I am soldier serving over in Iraq when myself & others heard
about the news about Megan. Like everyone else we were all sadden & at a

thoughts are with the parents and your

  • Dear Vince and family,
Our hearts go out to you.  I have a daughter just younger than Megan and
can't imagine being in your shoes.  Words can't express all that is going
on in our lives, much less yours but this has affected many of us and we
are all devastated.  Our prayers are with you and your family and look
forward to the day we see your smiling face again delivering our packages
    to our door.
May God Bless You All!! David and Libby Havard

  • My heart goes out to your family. I have a 22 year old daughter
of my own that lives in Dallas.  I often remind her to watch out for
strangers.  She doesn't take me very seriously, and although I am greatly
greived to find out Megan was not found alive, I hope that her story will
make young women like my daughter be more cautious. God bless and keep
your family in this time of loss. Our prayers will be with you always,
    Lori Mantooth

  •  To all of Megan's family and friends our deepest sympathy for
your loss.Know that the world morns with you.
My daughter is a Megan also, about the same age and attends TJC.
That is the Wal-mart that I use and I remember your Megan,we spoke about
    the simularities.
This senseless loss is beyond our understanding. This side of heaven we
won't understand, but Megan already understands because she has touched the
    face of God.
You are all in our prayers. ...Cindy

  • I was very sorry to hear of your loss of Megan.  At 19 she had
her whole life ahead  her.  Hearing about Megan and what happened to her
brouhgt back painful memories for me.  A few years ago a friend of mine
named Carla Wilman who I had the pleasure of knowing from going to high
school with her was abducted from a Wal-Mart parking lot as she left the
store on her way home from shopping.  Her kidnappers took her, murdered
her, and set her body on fire to rid themselves of evidence.  Needless to
say they were caught, tried, and now sit on death row waiting for their
just punishment.  As I left Carla's funeral here in Mt. Pleasant I said to
myself I hope this never happens to anyone else to make me feel this sad
and heartbroken.  Sorry to say my wish has not come true.  Rest easy,
Megan is now in the arms of the angels.  I know that's easy to say, but I
know in my heart that's where she is.  Again, I am sorry for Megan's loss.

  • I have followed Megan's story closely from the beginning and
wanted to take a moment to let you know how deeply sorry I am for your
loss. I lost my brother much too early and you are right, you do need time
to grieve and I pray people will give you that time. Megan's life has
truly touched many hearts and her sweet face will be in our thoughts for
quite some time. I pray the Holy Spirit will comfort you in knowing that
    Megan is truly "home"! Michelle

  • Comments: i just want the family to know that they are in my prayers

that God said He will never put more on you than you can bear and know
that no matter what, He will comfort you in your time of bereavement.  You
are in my thoughts as well as my prayers. ...tyseria starling

daughter and our prayers are with you.  With God all things are possible
and though it will be hard it is possible to overcome this circumstance.
I ask that you pray from Johnny because, regardless of what the media
says, that was not like him.  He was like a big brother to me, my closest
male relative and it hurts my heart that this happened, but please pray
that there is no more suffering for your family or ours.  If God is for
you, he is more than the whole world against you.

    God Bless and be strong,

  • I cannot imagine the pain you are suffering now.  I am the mother of two
wonderful young adult children. And the thought of losing either is beyond

When I realized who the young woman was I was physically ill.  I want you

was very impressed by her.  She could do many things at one time and was
always so kind.  She never seemed to get upset.  I even mentioned to my
husband how wonderful it would be for her to work at his business.

I know that the pain will never disappear.  God can, however bring you
