Steve Gaddis Leaves Spring Hill

For an East Texas high school football coach, the days when a coach like Jack Murphy or Sleepy Reynolds would run the same program for decades is gone. Especially at the 3A level and below, coaches and schools rarely stay together that long anymore.

Now, after thirteen years, Spring Hill's Steve Gaddis is leaving the Panthers. Gaddis has accepted the job as head football coach of the 5A Lewisville Fighting Farmers. Gaddis has been in East Texas for 21 years, with thirteen of the last sixteen as head coach of the panthers. In the last five years, Gaddis has taken Spring Hill to the playoffs every season.

"Anytime you have a passion for a program that you've been around for thirteen years," Gaddis says, "it's hard to leave those kids and coaches. But you just know when it's time to move on to the next challenge."

Gaddis says he'll long remember his days at Spring Hill.

"I'll hate walking out through that Panther dressing room for the last time. But I wouldn't have taken a day not walking through those doors, getting those Panthers ready."
