HGTV Dream Home Boosts Economy

The HGTV Dream Home is providing a boost to Tyler's economy, bringing more than 6,000 visitors in just two weeks.

The million-dollar home is attracting tourists from all over the country since it opened to the public on January 2.

Today, the Conventions and Visitors Bureau announced that The Reserve at Lake Tyler has sold $90,000 worth of tickets. The Reserve will keep $30,000. $60,000 will benefit four non-profit organizations: Habitat for Humanity of Smith County, CASA for Kids, East Texas Crisis Center, and Living Alternatives.

Hotels, restaurants, and other businesses have also benefited from the extra tourism.
