John Tyler enjoys record signing day

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -  The John Tyler Lions proved to be one of the state's best football teams in 2014, reaching the 5A-I state semifinals.  The strong season led to future opportunity, as 15 John Tyler seniors celebrated national signing day.

"We laugh and talk about it everyday," said Issac Warren, who signed Northwestern State.  "We love that we sent 15 guys off. The largest group we've ever had, we take a lot of pride in it."

The Lions say they will each other next season, but with the a record setting class, that could prove difficult.

"It's way tougher to follow 14 guys," said New Mexico State bound Jassavia Reese.  "But when they're your brothers it's not that hard. You have that dedication to keep the love up."

Over at Tyler Lee, all state linebacker Brandon Durman signed with Louisiana Tech.

"Starting as a freshman you try to get exposure," said Durman.  "And when you get to varsity, it's highlight tapes and camp, all that stuff. It's finally coming to an end and I'm going to a great college. I'm blessed and humbled and it feels great and it's awesome."
