Tyler Junior College kept it in the family with the naming of their new head football coach. Former Apache player and coach Jamie Critchlow is returning to his alma mater to take over the reigns from Dale Carr, who left in December to become the new head coach at Angelo State. Critchlow played for Carr in 1993 and 1994. He then coached the offensive line under Carr for six years. Critchlow returns to the Apaches after a year as offensive line coach for Texas A&M Commerce.
"It's like homecoming for me," said Critchlow. "I played here before. The association goes a lot further back then just 7 years of coaching. So, my ties here are pretty strong, and to come back and to be able to be the new head coach here is more than I could ask for at this point in my career."
Critchlow has some big shoes to fill. He replaces a coach with a 65-32 career record at TJC, with five bowl appearances.
