Tuesday's weather: Warm and sunny once again. Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - We have another sunny and warm day in store for today, but showers and cooler temps are heading our way.

We'll start our Tuesday in the upper 40s, not too bad, but you might want a light jacket before you head out the door. You won't need it this afternoon, as highs warm right back into the upper 60s to low 70s this afternoon. Expect mostly sunny skies once again today.

Highs will stay warm, ahead of a cold front that will begin moving through East Texas today. That front, building in from the northwest, will push through Tyler, Longview, and Jacksonville this afternoon, all the way through Deep East Texas this evening. Our winds will start out light, from the south, and shift out of the northeast around 5 mph behind the front.

Overnight, lows will fall into the mid 40s by early tomorrow morning. For tomorrow, expect mostly sunny skies and winds from the northeast from 5-10 mph. Highs will fall into the low 60s tomorrow afternoon, behind the front.

Big changes are in store for East Texas on Thursday. A cold Canadian air mass will build into the region, dropping out highs into the mid to upper 40s. Not only will we be chilly, but showers will move in as well. A disturbance, building to the west, over the southwestern part of the country, will bring moisture in from the Pacific. This disturbance will initiate showers across East Texas late Wednesday through Thursday. Those showers, building in from the west, could leave between 0.50-1.25" of rain.

By Friday, that disturbance will exit the region, to the east, and we'll be left with sunny skies through the weekend. Lows will fall into the upper 30s, with highs in the upper 50s.
