Tsunami Relief: BBB Says Beware Of Scams

Many East Texans are still looking for ways to help the victims of the tsunami that hit December 26th. But the Better Business Bureau is warning tonight not to be taken by several fake organizations soliciting funds.

Right now several legitimate organizations like the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Mercy Ships have been collecting funds to help rebuild the hardest hit areas and to help the thousands of victims.

"Some of these illegitimate groups are coming by phone. They call you at home. They are also n the Internet," says Kay Robinson of the BBB.

Kay suggests making your donations to local groups you are familiar with. She also recommend checking any organization soliciting funds with the Better Business Bureau before writing a check. But the BBB says many scam artists are using phone and Internet solicitations to try to get your cash.
