Thursday's Weather: Cloudy, cold, and rainy. Highs in the upper 30s.

We'll have a rainy and cold start to the new year, with highs only reaching the upper 30s this afternoon.

Moisture will continue to stream in from the southwest around an area of high pressure to our north, and an area of low pressure building onto the coast. Rain started over East Texas early this morning, and will continue all day, so please be careful on the roads.

Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, just to our west, until 3 p.m. These areas could see ice accumulations between 0.10-0.25," making for dangerous driving conditions, especially over bridges and overpasses. With temperatures slightly above freezing in East Texas, we won't have any ice or sleet, just cold rain this morning. Please be careful if you are traveling for the holiday.

An area of low pressure will build to our south, moving to the north along the Gulf. This low, combined with moisture from the Gulf, will bring rain to East Texas this morning through Saturday morning. We could see between 1-3" of rain during that time period.

Lows will warm into the mid 30s Friday, the low 40s Saturday. Highs will warm into the low 40s Friday, the low 50s Saturday

?High pressure will build back into place by the end of the weekend, bringing sunny skies through the end of next week.
