TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Jack Jackson was barely out of his teens when he became one of the first pilots to fly into enemy territory on D-Day, June 6,1944.

He made three flights during the invasion, piloting his C-47 Troop Carrier into German-occupied France, towing a glider loaded with paratroopers and heavy artillery.

He was to make three similar trips during the Holland Operation and two during the Battle of the Bulge. Jackson's last combat mission was during the Crossing of the Rhine.
