HGTV Dream Home Is Ready For Visitors

The yard is landscaped and the furniture has arrived. Yes, one of the most anticipated events in East Texas is almost here. The HGTV dream home is finished. All that's left to do is wait for the visitors. That happens this weekend when the home opens to the public.

Since May of this year, the HGTV dream home has gone from a vacant lot to 5,000 square foot house with a 1,200 square foot boat house.

Developer Mark Mahaffey says all the work on the home and the house boat has been worth it. It's almost ready for the expected 100,000 visitors. "Everybody's starting to get more and more excited as we're getting a little closer to this event beginning. I keep saying beginning. I thought we began in May when we started the house but we're just getting ready for people from all over the world coming to see Tyler, their home for the HGTV dream home 2005," says Mark.

Since we last got a look at the HGTV home, the landscape has been laid and we got a view of the pool. But the excitement isn't just reserved for the dream home. Mark says because of the publicity of the dream home, people from all over the nation are interested in buying lots off Lake Tyler. "We've already sold 40 lots. We have 8 spec homes under construction that will sell in the price range of $352,000 up to $650,000," says Mark.

Saturday at 10 PM, we will be able to show you our tour through the inside of the HGTV dream home. Saturday is also when you can start registering to win the home. Entries will be accepted until February 17th.

You can take your own tour beginning this Sunday from 1 until 3 PM. The tours will open again Monday and go through Friday from 10 AM until 4 PM. Tickets are $15 per person, and will benefit four non profit organizations in East Texas. Tickets are available at The Reserve Dream Home Tour parking area on Old Omen Road.
