East Texas Missionaries To Help Asia Relief Effort

One East Texas organization responding to the call for help in Asia is Youth With a Mission.

The director of YWAM's MercyWorks program, Debbie Lascelles, and a missionary doctor, Willis Lawton, met this afternoon to map out a plan of action. They will send a medical team to help the several hundred other YWAM missionaries already stationed in the affected countries.

YWAM is asking East Texans for donations and volunteers.

"Not only just medical people, but other lay people as well to help in the cleanup efforts and consoling people," Lascelles said. "We'll probably do trauma counseling as well. Eventually, we'll probably be involved in a rebuilding program."

YWAM may dispatch its first missionary team as early as this week. The cleanup and rebuilding effort will likely continue for years to come.

If you're interested in helping YWAM's efforts, call 903-882-5591.
