Thursday's Weather: Winds up to 15 mph will keep us cold with highs in the 40s

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Bundle up! This chilly weather will stick around through the end of the week.

Freeze Warnings have been issued for Titus, Camp, Morris, Cass, Wood, Upshur, Marion, Smith, Gregg, Harrison, Cherokee, Rusk, and Panola Counties until 8 a.m. We also have Freeze Warnings in effect for Hopkins, Kaufman, Van Zandt, Rains, Henderson, and Anderson Counties through 9 a.m. Lows will drop below freezing this morning, so don't forget to keep your pets inside and protect your sensitive plants.

The cold front moved through Tuesday, bringing a cold Arctic air mass into the region, from the north. While the front is exiting the region, moving to the east, we'll stay cold through the end of the week, as that colder air continues to stream in from the north.

We'll start our Thursday cold, falling into the upper 20s to low 30s before the sun rises. As we head into the afternoon, we'll warm into the low to mid 40s... that's about 20 degrees cooler than average for this time of the year. Expect partly cloudy skies today with winds from the north, bringing in that chilly air, between 10-15 mph

Lack of cloud cover will keep us cold overnight (without the sunshine, we need the clouds to keep us insulated overnight, which keeps us warmer). Overnight, expect partly cloudy skies, with lows falling into the upper 20s. Tomorrow, we'll have mostly sunny skies with highs right back in the low to mid 40s. Winds will stay out of the northeast, bringing in that chilly air, from 5-10 mph.?

For the weekend, a disturbance will build in from the west, meeting up with moisture from the Gulf. This could produce scattered showers (30%) over East Texas Saturday, with a better chance (50%) for Sunday. As lows near the freezing point overnight Sunday, into Monday morning, we can't rule out the possibility of a wintry mix. Right now, it looks like any precip will just be light rain, but we will keep an eye on it! Highs will stay in the low to mid 40s through the weekend.

We'll start next week with mostly sunny skies. Lows will stay in the 30s, with highs in the upper 40s, warming into the mid 50s by mid-week.
