Santa made an early pit stop in Tyler Thursday to bring a new set of wheels to some fortunate youngsters.
Santa and members of the Tyler Police Department's Bike Team delivered bikes to foster children at the Bair Foundation in Tyler Thursday afternoon.
From tricycles to 10 speeds decked out with the coolest in streamers and stripes, the kids couldn't wait to hop on and test them out.
The officers also gave every child a helmet for safety.
The bike team used money from their own pockets and gathered donations to purchase the bikes. "Seeing the happiness and the joy on these kids faces that's what it's all about this time of year," said Sergeant David Hall.
"Toys R Us" and "Southside Bank" helped the bike team in purchasing the bikes for the kids. The officers say they hope to expand the project and do it all again next year.
